East Carolina University
Session Description:
Mr. Bailey, who began his teaching career in Moore County at Sandhills Farm Life Elementary
School will be returning to Moore County (virtually) to share his passion for children’s
literature, especially books portraying the lives of people from underrepresented populations,
which has been the focus of his work and research for decades. According to Mr. Bailey,
“Teaching with diverse picture books is one of the many ways educators can create an
environment where every child is represented, accepted, valued, and respected. Areas of
diversity highlighted in this webinar will include age, gender, culture, abilities, religion,
sexual orientation, and gender identity.” Examples of outstanding books will be presented,
and a list of titles will be available to participants.

First Health Moore Regional Hospital for kids and families to enjoy.
We will be glad to make arrangements for a book exchange.
